Output

Converting happens in your browser, so your file never leaves your device. Transcribing uploads the audio to SeaMeet.

Pick a file, choose MP3 or WAV, and your browser converts it on your own device.

How it works

  1. Choose an audio or video file from your computer or phone.
  2. Pick MP3 or WAV, then select Convert & download.
  3. Save the new file, or send it straight to transcription.

One converter for the files you already have

Most audio ends up in a format that something refuses to play. A lecture recorded on a phone saves as M4A, a Zoom meeting comes out as MP4, a studio export is a huge WAV, and a WhatsApp voice note is an OGG file with an odd name. MP3 is the one format that every car stereo, podcast app and old media player accepts, and WAV is the one that editors, samplers and phone systems ask for.

This converter reads all of them. The work happens inside your browser tab, using your own computer or phone, so a long recording doesn't have to travel to a server and back first. That also means there is no upload to wait for and no upload size limit, only the free space on your device.

Converting is often the step before something else. If the recording is a meeting, an interview or a class, the next thing you want is usually the words. Transcribe this file sends the audio to SeaMeet, which writes the transcript with speaker labels and an AI summary.

Questions

Is my file uploaded when I convert it?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, and the file is never sent anywhere while it converts. Only if you choose Transcribe this file is the audio uploaded to SeaMeet, because transcription happens on our servers.

Is there a file size limit?

Not for converting. Nothing is uploaded, so your device sets the limit: the converted file needs free storage, and a very long recording may be too long for one WAV, in which case MP3 works. Transcription has its own limits: files up to 512 MB and 5 hours each.

Which formats can I convert?

Video files such as MP4, MOV, MKV and WEBM, and audio files such as M4A, WAV, OGG, OPUS, AAC, FLAC and MP3. You choose the result: an MP3 at the quality you pick, or a WAV.

Should I choose MP3 or WAV?

MP3 for listening and sharing: it is small and plays everywhere, and the recommended quality suits music and speech. WAV when an editor, a sampler or another program asks for it. WAV isn't compressed, so the file is much bigger, and it doesn't make the sound any better.

Can I get a transcript of the converted file?

Yes. Select Transcribe this file and the audio opens on the SeaMeet transcribe page, already chosen. Sign in free to get the transcript with speaker labels and an AI summary. That step uploads the audio.
