Convert WEBM to MP3

WebM · MP3 · M4A · WAV · FLAC · OGG · OGA · AAC · OPUS · MP4 · MOV · MKV

Converting happens in your browser, so your file never leaves your device. Transcribing uploads the audio to SeaMeet.

Choose a WEBM, such as a recording made in a browser tab, and keep its sound as an MP3.

How it works

  1. Choose the WEBM file, for example a browser recording.
  2. Pick the quality and select Convert & download.
  3. Save the MP3, or transcribe the recording.

Recordings made in the browser

WEBM is the format the web records in. When a site lets you record your screen, your camera or a voice clip, it usually hands you a WEBM. Browser extensions that capture a tab, online voice recorders, some web meeting tools and the screen recorder on a Chromebook all save it. It plays in Chrome and Firefox, but many desktop players, phones and audio editors don't know what to do with it.

Turning it into an MP3 makes the sound usable everywhere: in a podcast editor, on a phone, in a slide deck or attached to an email. The file is read in your browser, the video part, if there is one, is dropped, and only the audio is written out. Nothing travels to a server to convert it.

Browser recordings are often talks, calls and walkthroughs. If you need what was said rather than how it sounded, Transcribe this file hands the audio to SeaMeet, which writes a transcript with speaker labels and an AI summary.

Questions

Does the WEBM get uploaded?

No. The WEBM is opened and converted by the browser you are using, on your own device. It is uploaded only if you choose Transcribe this file, and then the audio goes to SeaMeet to be transcribed.

How big can the WEBM be?

There is no cap for converting, since nothing is sent anywhere. Long screen recordings are fine as long as your device has room for the MP3. Transcription has separate limits: 512 MB and 5 hours per file.

Is my WEBM audio or video?

It can be either. A WEBM from a voice recorder site holds only sound, and one from a screen or camera recording holds a picture as well. This page handles both and keeps only the audio.

Why won't my WEBM play in other apps?

WEBM was designed for the web, so browsers play it well, but many desktop players, phones and editors skip it. Converted to MP3, it opens in practically any app or device.
