Convert MP4 to MP3
MP4 · MP3 · M4A · WAV · FLAC · OGG · OGA · WebM · AAC · OPUS · MOV · MKV
Converting happens in your browser, so your file never leaves your device. Transcribing uploads the audio to SeaMeet.
Choose an MP4 and your browser pulls out the sound as an MP3, without sending the video anywhere.
How it works
- Choose the MP4 video you want the sound from.
- Pick the quality and select Convert & download.
- Save the MP3, or transcribe what was said.
Keep the sound, leave the video behind
MP4 is the most common video format: many phones, screen recorders, Zoom and Teams cloud recordings, webinars, and course platforms that let you download a class. When all you need is what people said or played, the picture is dead weight. A one-hour meeting can be a gigabyte as MP4 and well under a hundred megabytes as MP3.
The converter reads the MP4 straight from your disk, a piece at a time, and only keeps the audio track. The video frames are skipped, and nothing is uploaded, which matters when the recording is a large file or a private meeting.
People usually do one of two things next. They listen to the MP3 on a commute or in a podcast app, or they need the words: minutes for a meeting, quotes from an interview, notes from a lecture. For the second, Transcribe this file sends the audio to SeaMeet and you get a transcript with speakers and a summary.
Questions
Does my MP4 get uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the MP4 on your own device and writes the MP3 there too, so the video never leaves your computer or phone. If you choose to transcribe it, only the audio is uploaded to SeaMeet.
Can I convert a very large MP4?
Yes. The video is read in pieces instead of all at once, and there is no upload, so size is limited only by your device's free storage for the MP3. Transcription accepts audio up to 512 MB and 5 hours per file.
Will the MP3 sound the same as the video?
Close to it, though the MP3 is a compressed copy of the sound. The recommended quality is plenty for music, and a smaller setting is fine for speech. Surround sound is mixed down to stereo, which is what MP3 players expect.
Can I convert a Zoom or Teams recording?
Yes. Download the recording as an MP4 from the meeting app or its cloud storage, then choose it here. The MP3 is much smaller, and you can send it to transcription for meeting notes.
