00:00 Interviewer Why did you move the bakery to the old station building?
00:05 Guest We needed a bigger oven, and the rent there was fair for a small shop.
00:12 Interviewer Did your regular customers follow you?
00:16 Guest Most of them did. Some even walk further now, just for the rye bread.
00:23 Interviewer What would you change if you started again?
00:27 Guest I would hire help sooner. Doing everything alone wore me out.
The owner moved the bakery for a bigger oven and a fair rent, and most regular customers followed. Looking back, the owner would hire help sooner.

Interview transcripts for research and reporting
Place the recorder or phone between you and your guest, not beside you, so both voices come through at a similar level. Speakers are told apart most reliably when people take turns; crosstalk and a loud room make labels and words harder to get right. For remote interviews, record each side as clearly as the call allows.
For qualitative research, the speaker labels give you the turn structure most analysis starts from: who asked, who answered, and where an answer changed direction. On this page, filler words and repeats stay in the transcript by default, because hesitation can matter to the analysis; turn on Remove filler words before you transcribe for a smoother read. Pauses are not marked, so if your method needs strict verbatim notation, treat the text as a first draft and correct it against the audio.
Before you quote anyone in an article or report, check names, figures and specialist terms against the recording. Chapters make it easy to jump to the part of the conversation you need, and the summary helps you remember what each interview covered when you are working through many of them.

Questions
Can it tell the interviewer and the guest apart?
Yes. The transcript is split into speaker turns, and each voice gets its own label. Once the whole transcript is readable to you, rename the labels to real names, and the summary and chapters follow. If a remote interview was recorded in stereo with each side on its own channel, choose one speaker per channel before you transcribe.
How do I transcribe an interview for qualitative research?
Upload the recording, set the language and let it transcribe. Use the speaker turns as the base for your coding, and correct the text against the audio wherever your analysis depends on exact wording, since this is an AI transcript, not a verbatim one.
What if my interview recording is very long?
A file can run up to 5 h and 512 MB, which covers most interviews in full. If yours is longer, split it at a natural break and upload the parts in turn. Chapters help you move around a long transcript.
Is there a free way to transcribe interviews?
Yes, with limits. Your account has 6 h of free transcription in total, and on the free plan you read the first 15 min of each transcript. Sync Pro unlocks full transcripts for longer interviews.
Can I record the interview with SeaMeet instead?
Yes. SeaMeet can record your microphone in the browser with a live transcript, or record a call from its browser tab, and the recording lands in the same library as your uploads.
