How it works

  1. Choose your Turkish recording: a WhatsApp voice message, an interview or a lecture.
  2. Turkish is already selected, so just press Transcribe.
  3. Read the transcript by speaker, or download it as SRT subtitles.

Turkish letters, long suffixes and the transcript

The transcript is written in Turkish (Türkçe) with its own letters: ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü. The dotted and dotless i matter in Turkish, and they are part of the output rather than being flattened into plain Latin letters, so the text can go into a document as it is once you have read it.

Turkish builds long words from suffixes, and a mistake usually shows up in a suffix rather than as a completely different term. When you check a transcript, read the endings of names and key terms. Istanbul Turkish is the easiest; strong regional accents may give the occasional slip.

Common files are WhatsApp voice messages, job and research interviews, lectures and family recordings made abroad. Keep the language on Turkish when most of the talk is Turkish, even if people switch to German or English for a phrase. The transcript stays in Turkish and is not translated; the SRT subtitles keep the Turkish letters with times from the spoken words.

Questions

What if my recording isn't in Turkish?

Choose the language that is spoken, or pick automatic detection. If the transcript sounds like another language, one click transcribes the file again in that language.

Are the Turkish letters kept?

Yes. The transcript uses ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü as Turkish is written. If you paste it into an older app that mangles them, save the text as Unicode.

What about German or English words in Turkish speech?

Keep the picker on Turkish when most of the talk is Turkish. Short phrases in another language usually stay as spoken; a recording that is mostly German or English should use that language instead.

Is Turkish transcription free?

Yes, within the free limits: 6 h of transcription in total, and the first 15 min of each transcript readable on the free plan. Sync Pro unlocks full transcripts.
