Persian script, not Finglish, and Dari recordings
The transcript is written in Persian script (فارسی), right to left, the way Persian is printed in Iran; our own test clip came back in Persian script too. It isn't Finglish: if you chat in Latin letters and want that form, convert the checked text yourself. Persian spelling leans on the half-space (نیم‌فاصله) in forms such as می‌خواهم, and whether a verb comes out joined, spaced or half-spaced can vary, so give those a read. Set the paragraph direction to right to left in your editor before you paste, so full stops and question marks land where a reader expects.
The picker has one Persian entry, Persian from Iran. For Dari recordings from Afghanistan, check the spelling and local terms before the text goes to readers in Kabul or Herat. Tajik is written in Cyrillic, and this page gives Persian script only. English and French words such as presentation or merci are part of everyday Persian; keep the picker on Persian when most of the talk is Persian, because automatic detection picks one language for the whole file.
Many Persian recordings arrive as Telegram voice messages, WhatsApp notes from family abroad, university classes, Persian-language podcasts and interviews recorded in the diaspora. As of now, WhatsApp's own voice message transcripts don't cover Persian, so a saved voice note can simply be uploaded here. The SRT subtitles keep the Persian text with times taken from the spoken words.

Questions
What if my recording isn't in Persian?
Choose the spoken language in the list, for example Arabic, Urdu or English, or pick automatic detection. If the result sounds like a different language, one click transcribes the same file again in that language.
Can I get Finglish, Persian in Latin letters?
No. The transcript is in Persian script, right to left. If you need Latin letters for a chat or a social post, convert the checked text with a separate tool; this page does not write Persian in the Latin alphabet.
Does it work for Dari from Afghanistan?
The picker has one Persian entry, Persian from Iran, and the transcript is written in Persian script. For Dari recordings, check the spelling, local terms and names before you share the text, especially if it is going to readers in Afghanistan.
Does WhatsApp transcribe Persian voice notes itself?
As of now, WhatsApp's published list for its own voice message transcripts doesn't include Persian, on Android or on iPhone. Save the voice note as a file and upload it here to read it with speaker labels and a summary in your Library.
Is Persian transcription free?
