Tiek apspriests piegādātāja jaunais piedāvājums: cenas ir labas, bet piegāde ir pārāk ilga. Piegādātājam lūgs piegādāt ātrāk un atsūtīt rēķinu ar precīzu summu.

How it works

  1. Choose your Latvian recording: an interview, a lecture or a family call you saved.
  2. Latvian is already set in the language list, so press Transcribe.
  3. Read the transcript by speaker, or download it as SRT subtitles.

Latvian diacritics, mixed speech and diaspora calls

The transcript is written in Latvian (latviešu valoda) with the full alphabet: the macron on ā, ē, ī and ū, the háček on č, š and ž, and the comma on ģ, ķ, ļ and ņ. These marks change meaning, not just spelling: kaza is a goat and kāzas is a wedding, so a transcript without them would need rewriting before anyone could use it.

The picker entry is standard Latvian, the language of offices, schools and the news. There is no separate entry for Latgalian, and we haven't tested it; a Latgalian recording is likely to come back in standard Latvian spelling, so check it before you rely on it.

Many Latvian conversations slide into Russian or English, especially in Riga workplaces and among younger speakers. Automatic detection picks one language per file, so choose Latvian when most of the talk is Latvian, and read the borrowed phrases afterwards.

Typical files are thesis interviews, university lectures, podcasts and calls with relatives who live in Ireland, the UK or Norway. If a relative sends a WhatsApp voice note, WhatsApp's published list of transcription languages doesn't include Latvian as of now, so save the voice note and upload it here. The text stays in Latvian; nothing is translated.

Questions

What if my file isn't Latvian?

Change the language picker to the language that is actually spoken, for example Lithuanian, Russian or English, or choose automatic detection. If the transcript sounds like another language, one click transcribes the file again in that language.

Does the transcript keep ā, ķ, ņ and the other Latvian letters?

Yes. The text uses Latvian letters with their macrons, háčeks and commas, the way Latvian is written. If an older program shows them as question marks, save or open the text as Unicode and they come back.

My meeting switches between Latvian and Russian. Which language should I pick?

Pick the language most of the meeting is in. SeaMeet transcribes a file in one language, so Russian passages in a mostly Latvian meeting are the parts to check first. If the two halves are long, consider splitting the recording and transcribing each part in its own language.

Can I transcribe a Latgalian recording?

The language list has Latvian but no Latgalian entry. You can try a Latgalian recording with Latvian selected. We haven't tested Latgalian, and the text will probably follow standard Latvian spelling rather than Latgalian orthography, so read it carefully before you use it.

How much Latvian transcription is free?

A free account has 6 h of transcription in total, and the first 15 min of each transcript are readable on the free plan. Sync Pro unlocks full transcripts.
