Bahasa Indonesia, English terms and regional languages
The transcript comes out in Bahasa Indonesia, in the Latin alphabet. SeaMeet writes down what was said and doesn't translate anything into English. Relaxed speech full of nggak, udah and gimana, slang, abbreviations and people's names are the parts worth reading through before you share the text.
Office and campus Indonesian borrows English constantly: meeting, deadline, update, follow up. Automatic detection picks one language for the whole file, so a mostly Indonesian meeting with English terms dropped in should stay on Indonesian. The same goes for a few Javanese or Sundanese phrases in an Indonesian conversation. When a recording is mainly Javanese, choose Javanese, which has its own entry in the list. Malay is a separate entry as well, meant for recordings from Malaysia, Brunei or Singapore.
The files people bring are usually WhatsApp voice notes (VN), Zoom lectures and office meetings, interviews recorded for a skripsi or a qualitative study, and religious study sessions (kajian). As of now, WhatsApp's published list for its own voice message transcripts doesn't include Indonesian, so a long VN is easier to save as a file and upload here. SRT subtitles keep the Indonesian text, with times taken from the spoken words, for use in an editor such as CapCut.

Questions
What if my recording isn't in Indonesian?
Choose the language that is spoken, for example Malay, Javanese or English, or pick automatic detection. If the transcript sounds like another language, one click transcribes the file again in that language.
Should I choose Indonesian or Malay?
Choose Indonesian for recordings from Indonesia and Malay for recordings from Malaysia, Brunei or Singapore. The two are close in speech, but spelling and everyday vocabulary differ, as in kantor and pejabat or uang and wang, and the transcript is written in the language you pick.
What about English terms in Indonesian speech?
Keep the picker on Indonesian when most of the talk is Indonesian. Terms such as meeting or deadline are part of normal office Indonesian and belong in the transcript. If most of the recording is in English, choose English instead, and read names and product terms through before sharing.
Does WhatsApp transcribe Indonesian voice notes?
As of now, WhatsApp's published list of languages for its own voice message transcripts doesn't include Indonesian. Save the voice note as a file and upload it here; the transcript goes to your Library with speaker labels, a summary and chapters.
Is Indonesian transcription free?
Yes, within the free limits: 6 h of transcription in total, up to 10 files a day, and the first 15 min of each transcript readable on the free plan. Sync Pro unlocks full transcripts.
