How it works

  1. Pick your Hindi file: a WhatsApp audio, a coaching class or an office meeting.
  2. Hindi is already chosen in the language list; press Transcribe.
  3. Read it speaker by speaker, or download SRT subtitles in Devanagari.

Devanagari output, Hinglish speech, Hindi or Urdu

The transcript is written in Devanagari (हिन्दी), the script Hindi is printed in, and our own test clip came back in Devanagari as well. It does not write Roman Hindi, the Hindi typed in English letters that many people use in chats. If you need Roman-script captions for Instagram or a chat group, convert the checked text yourself; this page won't do that step. The SRT subtitles keep the same Devanagari text, with times taken from the spoken words.

Everyday Hindi, the Hinglish of offices and colleges, borrows from English all the time: meeting, delivery, project, exam. Keep the picker on Hindi when most of the talk is Hindi. Those borrowed words may appear in Devanagari (मीटिंग) or in Latin letters, so read through names and brand terms before you share the text. A talk that is mostly English with a few Hindi phrases should go through English instead. Spoken Hindi and Urdu share most everyday words. Hindi is written out in Devanagari and Urdu in the Urdu alphabet, so choose the one whose script you want to read rather than leaving it to detection.

Most Hindi recordings start on a phone: a long WhatsApp audio in a family group, a coaching or college class, a shop or office meeting, an interview for a research project. As of now, WhatsApp's own voice message transcripts list Hindi on Android but not on iPhone, and they show one message at a time inside the chat. Uploading the file here gives you a transcript in your Library with speaker labels, a summary and chapters.

Questions

What if my file isn't in Hindi?

Choose the spoken language in the list, for example Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali or English, or pick automatic detection. If the transcript sounds like a different language, one click transcribes the same file again in that language.

Can I get Roman Hindi, Hindi in English letters?

No. Hindi comes out in Devanagari, the way it is printed in newspapers and books. If you need Roman-script Hindi for a chat or a social post, convert the checked text with a separate tool; this page does not write Hindi in Latin letters.

The speaker mixes Hindi and Urdu. Which should I choose?

Choose by the script you want to read. Spoken Hindi and Urdu overlap heavily; a Hindi transcript is written in Devanagari, an Urdu one in Urdu script. Automatic detection settles on one language for the whole file, so setting it yourself avoids a surprise.

Doesn't WhatsApp already transcribe Hindi voice notes?

On Android, WhatsApp's own voice message transcripts list Hindi; on iPhone, its published list doesn't include Hindi as of now. Those transcripts appear per message inside the chat. A voice note saved as a file can be uploaded here and read with speaker labels and a summary.

How much Hindi audio can I transcribe free?

A free account has 6 h of transcription in total, counted by the length of each file, and the first 15 min of every transcript are readable. Sync Pro unlocks the rest of longer recordings.
