German meetings, long compounds and the transcript
The transcript is written in standard German (Deutsch) with umlauts and ß, and nouns capitalised as they should be. Long compounds are the part to watch: a term such as Qualitätssicherungsbericht may be written as one block or split, depending on how clearly it was spoken, so check the compounds that matter for your document.
Recordings from Germany, Austria and Switzerland all go to the German model. Strong dialect is harder than standard speech, and Swiss German in particular may come back closer to standard German spelling than to what was said. For interviews in dialect, plan time to compare quotes with the audio.
Common files are team calls, qualitative interviews for a thesis, university lectures and council or association meetings. Meetings in German companies often mix in English terms such as Deadline or Meeting; keep the language on German and those usually stay as spoken. Once checked, the transcript can go out as SRT subtitles with times from the spoken words.

Questions
What if my recording isn't in German?
Choose the language that is spoken, or pick automatic detection. If the finished transcript sounds like another language, one click transcribes the file again in that language.
Does it handle Austrian and Swiss German?
Recordings from Austria and Switzerland go to the same German model. Standard speech works best; strong dialect, especially Swiss German, may be written closer to standard German, so compare important passages with the audio.
Can I use it for thesis interviews?
Yes. Upload each interview, and the transcript comes back split by speaker. It is an AI transcript, not a strict verbatim one, so correct the passages you quote and add any notation your method needs.
Is German transcription free?
Yes, within the free limits: 6 h of transcription in total, and the first 15 min of each transcript readable on the free plan. Sync Pro unlocks full transcripts.
